Energy For Life Walkathon Held In Hinsdale
The event is to raise awareness for mitochondrial disease and to honor and recognize those with mitochondrial disease.

HINSDALE, IL — The ninth annual Energy For Life Walkathon for the Chicago area will be held at Hinsdale's Katherine Legge Memorial Park on Sunday, Sept. 16. The walk is hosted by the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, and the opening ceremony will be held at 10 a.m.
The event is to raise awareness for mitochondrial disease and to honor and recognize those with mitochondrial disease.
The schedule of events for the walkathon is:

- Volunteer registration, 8 a.m.
- Walk registration begins at 9 a.m.
- Zumba warm-up at 9:30 a.m.
- Opening ceremony at 10 a.m.
- 3k and 5k walks begin at 10:30 a.m.
- Post walk picnic at 11:30 a.m.
According to the event website, parking is available in the large parking lot near the south pavilion. So far, the event has raised $10,700 out of its $73,000 goal.
