This week we are featuring an all too tasty libation invented by the monks: The Tripel.
Named for the triple amount of malt used versus a traditional trappist ale, the tripel is yellow to golden in body with both a bitter and sweet component with a punch of spice. Usually compared to a stronger pale ale, these beers tend to pair best with stronger, washed-rind cheeses...also invented by the monks.
