Extreme Cold In Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills: What's Closed

Due to the extreme cold in the forecast, several services and schools will be closed on Wednesday.

HINSDALE-CLARENDON HILLS, IL — Schools, services and other organizations will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 30 due to the historic and dangerous cold moving into the area. Some of the coldest temperatures will be Tuesday night and Wednesday night, when temps will be -20 to -30, the National Weather Service said. On Wednesday, temperatures will remain below zero and will struggle to get above zero on Thursday as well.

The Clarendon Hills Park District will also be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 30 and Thursday, Jan. 31. All programs and classes on those days will be canceled as well. In Hinsdale, the Hinsdale Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 30.

As of 7 p.m. Tuesday, schools who have announced closures for Wednesday, Jan. 30 are:

  • District 181 - Closed Wednesday AND Thursday
  • District 86 (Hinsdale Township High Schools)
  • St. Isaac Jogues
  • Children's Montessori Language Academy
  • Hinsdale Adventist Academy
  • Seton Montessori School
  • The Village Children's Academy

In Hinsdale, residential refuse and recycling collection normally scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 31, will be delayed by one day and will be picked up on Friday, Feb. 1, the village said. The village hall in Hinsdale will also be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 30.
