Family Winter Wonderland Offers Holiday Experience for Children Touched by Cancer

The Winter Wonderland takes place at Wellness House from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 17.

Santa Claus will roll up to Wellness House on Dec. 17 in a Hinsdale Fire Department engine to bring treats for families that have experienced cancer.

The Family Winter Wonderland will take place 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 17. at Wellness House (131 N. County Line Road, Hinsdale), according to a news release.

The holiday event is hosted by The Family Matters Program, which “helps to normalize and validate the feelings that children have during the cancer experience,” according to the release.

The Winter Wonderland will feature fire hats and goodies from the Hinsdale Fire Department and gingerbread house decorating assisted by Cheryl Brookhouzen, owner of Stir It Up and former executive pastry chef at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile.

“Events like the Winter Wonderland are designed to be fun and geared toward families with children between the ages of 2 and 18 as a time for family bonding and memory making,” Wellness House Oncology Child Life specialist Chelsea Cress stated in the release.
