Few Virus Cases At Hinsdale Central And South
District 86's numbers reflect trends at nearby high schools.
HINSDALE, IL — One of every 430 students at Hinsdale Central and South had the coronavirus as of late last week, according to a District 86 report.
As of Friday, Hinsdale Central reported six coronavirus cases among students, down from eight a week before. At Hinsdale South, the school had two cases, down from four a week earlier.
Of the district's nearly 4,000 students, about 0.2 percent have the virus, according to the latest statistics.

This compares to 0.4 percent at Lyons Township High School and 0.6 percent at Elmhurst's York High School.
Four district employees had the coronavirus as of Friday, up from two a week before.

The number of coronavirus cases at Hinsdale Central and South has dropped for nearly a month.
According to the district, 59 percent of South students and 82 percent of Central students are fully vaccinated. The staff rate is 95 percent.
Despite a court order to the contrary, District 86 is continuing with its mask mandate, drawing opposition from many in the community.
