Fire Damages House In Hinsdale

Firefighters notified two people inside the house of the blaze. No one was injured.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale firefighters on Wednesday morning responded to a house fire on Justina Street and put it out quickly, according to a fire department news release. They notified two people in second-floor bedrooms of the blaze and escorted them and two dogs to safety, the release said. No one was injured.

"They were not trapped," Fire Lt. Steve Tullis said in an email to Patch. "Two of us went inside the home, found the boys sleeping in upstairs bedrooms and escorted them outside to safety. We also brought out two dogs. We did all of this while two other Hinsdale firefighters stretched a hose line to the seat of the fire. We had six members on duty, so we were able to accomplish these critical tasks immediately."

The fire, which was at 427 Justina St., was contained to an exterior shed at the back side of a two-car attached garage and some interior areas of the roof and attic space, the release said. The estimated loss was about $50,000. No neighboring properties were damaged.

The fire station received the fire call from a neighbor shortly after 11 a.m. An occupant of the house told arriving firefighters that she thought her brothers were still inside, the news release said.
