Four Hinsdale Residents Win National Merit Scholarships

The four Hinsdale residents are among 2,500 winners across the country.

HINSDALE, IL — 2,500 high school seniors have won this year's National Merit $2,500 Scholarship award. According to the organization, the winners were chosen from more than 15,000 finalists. Among the winners are four Hinsdale residents: Thomas Bartecki, Elena Cacchillo, Andrea Collins and Margaret Keller.

Bartecki is a student at Fenwick High School in Oak Park and has a probable career field of Computer Science. Cacchillo is a student at Benet Academy in Lisle and has a probable career field in Medicine.

Collins and Keller are both students at Hinsdale Central High School. Collins has a probable career field in Computer Science; while Keller has a probable field in Law.

According to the organization, National Merit $2,500 Scholarship winners are the finalists in each state judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state's percentage of the
nation's graduating high school seniors.
