GOP Lawmaker To Run For Area State Senator

The representative touts his work on Cal's Law and says he has the ability to work on a bipartisan basis.

HINSDALE, IL — A Republican state representatives announced Wednesday that he is running for the 24th Senate District seat. It is held by state Sen. Suzy Glowiak Hilton, D-Western Springs, but she has been redistricted to the 23rd District.

Seth Lewis, a Bartlett resident, was elected to the state House in 2020.

He highlighted his sponsorship of "Cal's Law," which he said helps children afflicted with pediatric cancer gain access to life-saving comprehensive testing. It passed unanimously in both the House and Senate.

Lewis also touted his ability to work on a bipartisan basis.

"I know there are issues we disagree on, but I hope that we will remember how we collaborated on a bipartisan basis, and use that as a path to make Illinois a better place to live," Lewis said.

A small business owner, Lewis has been married to Dr. Bhavna Sharma-Lewis for 24 years and moved to Bartlett in 2001, raising their children who are now in college. Before starting his business, he worked in various positions in manufacturing. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from the University of Iowa.
