Grab Your Leis: It’s Luau Season at The Birches

On July 19, residents of The Birches Assisted Living in Clarendon Hills will experience the fun and excitement of a Hawaiian vacation without ever having to leave the familiarity and comfort of the Birches’ grounds.

Between 11:00 am and 2:00 pm, The Birches' dining room and patio will become an exotic tropical getaway filled with delicious food, drinks, and lively entertainment.

In the spirit of a traditional Polynesian luau, The Birches will provide a scrumptious buffet-style feast that includes Hawaiian caprese salad, Indonesian beef burgers, Bahamian grilled chicken, stuffed portabella mushrooms, roasted sweet potatoes, and, of course, the staple of any luau feast—a whole roasted pig.

Attendees can cozy up to the Tiki Bar and indulge in few colorful and refreshing tropical beverages or try their hand at hula with complimentary hula lessons.

Hula lessons and musical entertainment will be provided by The Barefoot Hawaiians, an authentic Polynesian-style ensemble whose performances include traditional costumes, vibrant music, fire-knife dancers, cultural folklore, and, of course, the most important element—  a lot of audience participation.
