Here's What D-86 Is Considering For New School Year
District has not set a first day of school. Board is expected to take up plan at meeting this week.

HINSDALE, IL — The Hinsdale High School District 86 board has made no decision on how to proceed with the next school year. And no first day is yet listed on its website calendar.
Like many school districts, a lot remains up in the air because of the pandemic. The district has formed the Revitalization-Recovery-Restore Committee, which is advising the board on the new year. It has come up with four options for ways to come back to school.
Three of the options involve a mix of remote and in-person learning, known as hybrid models. The fourth calls for entirely remote learning.

In a recent statement, Superintendent Tammy Prentiss said the district was leaning toward a hybrid.
"With that said, we recognize that our plans must remain flexible in order to accommodate any changes that occur to the health conditions in our community, county and/or state," she said.

Under the hybrids, students would be separated into groups A and B. They would attend school on different days of the week. In two of the models, each class meets in-person once a week and remotely two or three times a week. In the other, each class meets in-person once a week and remotely two to three times a week.
In an email to Patch on Monday, district spokesman Chris Jasculca said the committee would present its recommended plan to the board at Thursday's meeting. He said the presentation would include information about the first day of school.
The school board's online agenda includes documents to go along with the presentation, but nothing indicates which option the committee plans to recommend. Those documents include a detailed table of contents for the proposed plan, but none of its sections.
The options under consideration are for the first semester only, the district said.
The school board meets at 6 p.m. Thursday in the Hinsdale Central High School cafeteria, 5500 S. Grant St. An earlier closed session starts at 5:30 p.m.
