Hinsdale 86 'Absolutely Abysmal' In This Way: Superintendent
The district fares poorly compared to other high school districts in this category, official says.
HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale High School District 86 rates highly in many ways. But in one category, it does quite poorly, the superintendent said last week.
"We are absolutely abysmal quite frankly on the amount of dual credit offerings we allow our students compared to other high school districts," Superintendent Tammy Prentiss told the school board.
Part of the reason, she said, were the requirements and certifications needed by teachers for dual credit courses, which let students earn high school and college credit simultaneously.

"As retirements are happening, we will be very deliberate in our postings, looking to make sure that future replacements, particularly in the area of math and science, have those certifications that are required to offer additional dual credit for our students," Prentiss said.
The superintendent was speaking during a more than two-hour discussion on changes to the science curriculum.
