Hinsdale Central Coaches' Resignation Letters All The Same

HINSDALE, IL – The three Hinsdale Central High girls basketball coaches who resigned more than a week ago submitted the same resignation letters.

Patch obtained the emails through a public records request.

The one-sentence letters' formats were the same, and each included the same error.

All three wrote, "Effectively immediately, I resign my position on the 2023-24 HC girls' basketball coaching staff."

The error was using "effectively" rather than "effective," a sign the message was likely copied and pasted.

The only differences were in the salutations and closings.

Assistant coaches Brian Mitchell and Allison Rogala used the salutation "Coach Jezioro," referring to the school's athletic director, Mike Jezioro. Head coach Erin Navolio simply said "Mike."

Mitchell and Rogala ended their letters with "respectfully" and their names. Navolio did not include "respectfully."

Their emails were sent over nine minutes on the morning of Dec. 5, with Mitchell sending his first.

Hinsdale Central had said the coaches resigned a day earlier, which prompted the postponement of a game. Perhaps the three coaches notified their superiors verbally at first, followed by the next day's formalities.

Navolio is a teacher at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in La Grange, while Mitchell and Rogala are both Central teachers.

Hinsdale High School District 86 has kept the reasons for the resignations secret.

Navolio declined to comment on the situation last week. Patch left messages with Mitchell and Rogala on Wednesday morning.

Late last week, Hinsdale Central announced it had found interim coaches for the girls basketball program.
