Hinsdale Central Ranked Among State's Best For 2018: US News

U.S. News & World Report released its annual list of best high schools in the country. See how Hinsdale Central ranked.

HINSDALE, IL — U.S. News & World Report released its 2018 rankings of the best high schools in Illinois, and Hinsdale Central High School is ranked 13th in the state, according to the magazine. Hinsdale Central earned a gold medal, and is ranked 489 in the national rankings. The 2018 best high school rankings were released Wednesday and evaluate more than 20,500 public high schools.

U.S. News identified schools that best serve all students and assessed how prepared students are for college-level work. Schools are also recognized with gold, silver and bronze medals with gold indicating the greatest level of college readiness.

On its "scorecard," Hinsdale Central received a college readiness index of 58.2 out of 100, a mathematics proficiency of 33 percent and a reading proficiency of 61 percent.

Hinsdale Central did drop in the rankings by six spots from last year, when it was ranked seventh in the state. This year, Hinsdale Central was right above John Hersey High School and below Libertyville High School.
