HINSDALE, IL – A Hinsdale Central High School teacher whom the school board reprimanded last week was also suspended without pay for five days, public records show.

Through a records request, Patch on Wednesday obtained documents related to the disciplinary situation involving Spanish teacher Shannon Voytsekhovskyy.

In a Sept. 5 letter, Cheryl Moore, assistant superintendent of human resources, informed Voytsekhovskyy that her "unprofessional and inappropriate" conduct jeopardized student safety.

Hinsdale High School District 86 blacked out much of Moore's letter about what Voytsekhovskyy was alleged to have done.

But Moore referred to a board policy barring any school employee from administering or supervising any student's prescribed or over-the-counter medication without a completed authorization form from a parent.

Moore also noted a board policy that expects employees to demonstrate integrity, be considerate and cooperative, and maintain professional relationships with students, parents and others.

In her letter, Moore said she would recommend the board issue a notice of "remedial warning" to Voytsekhovskyy. Moore said she would do so because of the severity of Voytsekhovskyy's conduct. Last Thursday, the board unanimously approved the notice.

In the notice, Voytsekhovskyy was told to consult with the school nurse when a student informed her of the need to consume or possess medications.

Voytsekhovskyy was warned that she may be fired for her next violation.

According to Central's website, Voytsekhovskyy started working at Hinsdale South High School before being transferred to Central in recent times.

Voytsekhovskyy did not immediately return a message for comment.
