Hinsdale And Clarendon Hills Defy National Virus Trend

HINSDALE, IL — Coronavirus rates are ticking up slightly nationally, but that trend doesn't apply to Hinsdale or Clarendon Hills.

In the last week, Hinsdale saw no now virus cases and Clarendon Hills experienced just one, according to county agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,652 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic. That number has remained the same for four weeks.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills was 879 as of Sunday, one more than a week before.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 61 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 93.7 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 82.1 in Darien, 88.6 in La Grange Park, 92.1 in DuPage County, 95 in Elmhurst, 99.3 in Western Springs, 100.4 in Clarendon Hills, 102.7 in suburban Cook County, 105.5 in Burr Ridge and 122 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,402,763, up 0.1 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,377.

Nationally, 33.9 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 0.1 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 606,618 people have died from the virus in the United States.
