Hinsdale And Clarendon Hills See Falling Rates Of New Virus Cases

Two more coronavirus deaths reported in the last week in Hinsdale.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills saw decreased rates of new coronavirus cases in the last week, according to county health authorities.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had seen 1,107 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 52 from a week earlier, or a 4.9 percent increase. The previous week's hike was 7.8 percent.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 621 coronavirus cases as of Sunday, up 38 from a week before, or a 6.5 percent increase. The previous week's increase was 10.4 percent increase.

Last week's increases in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills compare to 4.5 percent in Darien and 6.4 percent in La Grange and Western Springs.

Hinsdale saw two more coronavirus-related deaths in the last week, totaling 55 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths remained the same at 10. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

The figure compares to 56.2 in La Grange Park, 59.4 in Darien, 60.8 in Western Springs, 68.2 in DuPage County, 70 in Elmhurst, 71 Clarendon Hills, 75 in suburban Cook County, 76.9 in Burr Ridge and 83.5 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,024,039, up 4.6 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 17,494 state residents.

Nationally, 21.9 million people have caught the virus, up 7.4 percent from the week before. A total of 367,652 people have died from the virus in the United States.
