Hinsdale And Clarendon Hills See Sharp Rises In Virus Cases: Agen
Both villages see more deaths in the last week, according to county agencies.
HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills saw higher percentage increases in coronavirus cases last week than they have the last few weeks, according to county health authorities.
As of Sunday, Hinsdale had seen 1,055 coronavirus cases since the beginning of the pandemic, up 76 from a week earlier, or a 7.8 percent increase. The previous week's hike was 3.7 percent.
Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 583 coronavirus cases as of Sunday, up 55 from a week before, or a 10.4 percent increase. That was double the previous week's 5.2 percent increase.

Last week's increases in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills compare to those in Darien (7.5 percent), La Grange (3.4 percent) and Western Springs (3.2 percent).

Hinsdale saw four more coronavirus-related deaths in the last week, totaling 53 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills saw one more, for a total of 10. Hinsdale's number is largely driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 59.8 coronavirus cases per thousand people. The figure compares to 51.7 in La Grange Park, 56.8 in Darien, 57.1 in Western Springs, 65.7 in DuPage County, 66.2 in Elmhurst, 66.6 Clarendon Hills, 71.4 in suburban Cook County, 73.4 in Burr Ridge and 78.5 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 979,821, up 4.5 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 16,755 state residents.
Nationally, 20.3 million people have caught the virus, up 7.6 percent from the week before. A total of 349,246 people have died from the virus in the United States.
