Hinsdale And Clarendon Hills Virus Rate Hikes Leveling

The number of coronavirus cases in Hinsdale has nearly doubled since early October, figures show.

HINSDALE, IL — The increases in coronavirus cases in Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills appear to be leveling off in the last couple of weeks. That reflects the pattern in nearby towns.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had seen 735 coronavirus cases since the pandemic's beginning, up 10 percent, or 65 cases, from a week earlier. The number of Hinsdale cases has nearly doubled since early October.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 384 cases Sunday, up 13 percent, or 45 cases, from a week earlier. The total number of cases is more than double that of early October.

The number of those who have recovered is unavailable.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale's and Clarendon Hills' number of coronavirus-related deaths remained at 42 and 2, respectively. The figures have remained the same for weeks. Hinsdale's number is driven by a coronavirus outbreak at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home earlier in the crisis.

The figure compares to 35.4 in La Grange Park, 39.6 in Darien, 41.2 in Western Springs, 43.9 in Clarendon Hills, 46.9 in Elmhurst, 47.1 in DuPage County, 50.8 in Burr Ridge, 51.5 in suburban Cook County and 55.6 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 720,114, up 9.7 percent from a week earlier. The coronavirus has claimed the lives of 12,193 state residents.

Nationally, 13.1 million people have caught the virus, up 9.5 percent from the week before. A total of 265,166 people have died from the virus in the United States.
