Hinsdale Club Appears Free of Coronavirus

No one else tests positive, so tennis events are still on schedule.

HINSDALE, IL — No one else has tested positive for the coronavirus at Hinsdale's Salt Creek Club since the club got the news about two weeks ago that a junior tennis player was infected, the club announced Tuesday. The organization had required players and staff who shared courts with the player to test for the coronavirus.

Everyone except one person got tests that came back negative, with the one leaving the area for good, the club said.

"This episode raised members' and staff's awareness of the importance of social distancing and wearing masks at the SCC grill, and the negative test results lend support to the observation that outdoor tennis is a low-probability environment for transmission of the coronavirus," the club said in a statement to members.

"However, the news headlines continue to remind us that the coronavirus is still a major threat, even in states like Illinois that have shown declining rates of hospitalizations," the club said. "As a friendly reminder, please consider staying home if you or someone in your family is experiencing a fever or symptoms of COVID-19, or if you believe you've been exposed recently."

The player in question did not visit the pool or grill area.
