Hinsdale Club Deals With Coronavirus Situation

Members who came into contact with diagnosed person must present negative test before returning.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale's Salt Creek Club informed members this week that a junior tennis player tested positive for the coronavirus. The player was on the club premises last Thursday in the high-performance tennis group from 9 a.m. to noon. This news comes as Hinsdale and nearby towns are seeing some of their biggest increases in confirmed coronavirus cases since the pandemic began.

In a mass email, Salt Creek Club assured members that the player did not visit either the pool or grill area. The club said it received the news about the positive test Monday evening and proceeded to contact the parents of junior tennis players that shared a court with the diagnosed player. It sent the mass email shortly before 3 p.m. the next day. Nothing about the situation has been mentioned on the club's Twitter feed.

All tennis players and club personnel who were on the same court will be required to present a negative test result before returning to play or work at the club, the email said.

The club promised to provide members with updates.

Last week, Hinsdale saw a dozen new cases of the coronavirus, bringing the total to 201, according to county health authorities. That was following a month in which the growth in cases slowed down. In that time, only a dozen new cases were reported.
