Hinsdale Cop Catches Home Burglar: Authorities
The man is accused of breaking into a house while a woman was inside, police said.

WESTMONT, IL – A homeless man broke into a Westmont woman's house, ransacked her purse and stole her car Monday, police said. She was in the house.
Bryce Fleming, 23, was charged with the felonies of residential burglary and possession of a stolen motor vehicle. A DuPage County Judge Joshua Dieden ordered him jailed until his trial.
Shortly before midnight Monday on Naperville Road, a woman was alone in her bedroom when she heard noises coming from the kitchen.

In the kitchen, she found the back door open and her purse rummaged through, according to a news release from DuPage County prosecutors. She found her 2022 Hyundai Tucson missing from the garage.
It is believed Fleming manipulated a windowpane in the back door, allowing him to unlock the door, police said.

Fleming then stole the woman's debit and credit cards from the purse and her car keys and garage door opener from a bowl in the living room, prosecutors said.
A few minutes after police were called, an officer in neighboring Hinsdale stopped the Hyundai Tucson on Burlington Avenue, police said. Fleming was arrested.
"My office takes the behavior alleged in this case extremely seriously," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in the news release. "Violating the safety and security that a home provides to us all can not only have a devastating effect on the victim but can also have a crippling effect on the entire community as residents worry that they may be next."
