Hinsdale Coronavirus Caseload Doubles
Hinsdale has 2½ times more cases than it did a week ago. This is explained by spike at nursing home.
HINSDALE, IL — The number of Hinsdale's coronavirus cases has skyrocketed in the last week, increasing to 125, from 47 a week earlier, according to county health authorities. Neighboring Clarendon Hills, meanwhile, saw just one more case in that time, totaling 26.
Hinsdale's increase is driven by a big recent spike in coronavirus cases at ManorCare Hinsdale nursing home, which now has 97 cases and six deaths related to the coronavirus.
While Hinsdale has a hospital in its boundaries, that would not explain the village's caseload. Coronavirus patients are counted at the place of their residence, not at the hospital where they are admitted, according to the state Department of Public Health.
