Hinsdale D-86 Leader Gets 3-Year Contract
Superintendent gets $250,000 a year. Board praises her performance.
HINSDALE, IL — The school board for Hinsdale High School District 86 voted unanimously Thursday to extend Superintendent Tammy Prentiss's contract for another three years.
The contract takes effect July 1, 2021, and lasts through June 30, 2024. Prentiss, formerly an assistant superintendent, was appointed to the top position last year after Superintendent Bruce Law left to become superintendent of Township High School District 113.
"Thanks to her hard work and tireless efforts, we have made significant progress on key initiatives such as the implementation of our strategic plan and completion of critical upgrades and improvements to our facilities," board President Kevin Camden said in a statement.

The board made no changes to Prentiss' $250,000 base salary. Camden said the board wanted to wait until it finishes negotiations with the teachers, support staff and service employees unions.
"(I)t is critical to finalize the financial aspects of those agreements before deciding on compensation for the superintendent," he said.

According to the school board, Prentiss is credited for a number of accomplishments, including:
- The work associated with last year's referendum has been done on time and is under budget by more than $770,000.
- The district has worked to align courses, grading and assessments in the two schools' math and science departments.
- The district has invested in security, including a camera system, addition of security staff and creation of command centers in both schools.
