Hinsdale D-86 Sees Big Drop In Virus Cases

The trend is seen among both students and staff at Central and South.

HINSDALE, IL — The number of students testing positive for the coronavirus in Hinsdale High School District 86 fell by half in the last week, according to the latest numbers.

As of Friday, Hinsdale Central reported 44 coronavirus cases among students, down from 88 a week before. At Hinsdale South, the school had 42 cases, down from 75. Of the nearly 4,000 students, 2.2 percent have the virus, according to the statistics.

A total of nine employees in Hinsdale High School District 86 had the coronavirus as of Friday, down from 21 the week before.

According to the district, 58 percent of South students and 82 percent of Central students are fully vaccinated. The staff rate is 95 percent.
