HINSDALE, IL – The Hinsdale High School District 86 board plans to fill a board vacancy by next month.

The seat has been vacant since last Thursday, when member Kay Gallo resigned in frustration.

The deadline for applying is Nov 15. The day after that, the board plans to discuss the applicants behind closed doors.

They hope to interview finalists in a closed session on the week of Dec. 4, with an appointment expected at the Dec. 21 regular meeting.

At a special meeting Thursday, the board discussed whether it should release the applications to the public, rather than do so in response to a public records request.

The board had no consensus on the issue.

In September, when then-member Debbie Levinthal resigned in frustration, the board was against releasing the applications voluntarily.

In that case, the applicants' names became public when Patch obtained the information through a records request.
