Hinsdale Democrat Says Boys Harassing Family; Police Cite Youths
He says they are moving because of the problem. His precinct backed Trump in 2024.

HINSDALE, IL – Omar, who lives in southeastern Hinsdale, contends that his family is being targeted for their politics.
Last week, Omar, an attorney, took to social media to report that youths have disturbed his home numerous times in the last few months.
Hinsdale police said they cited five teens – four from Hinsdale, one from Clarendon Hills – on Feb. 26 on disorderly conduct charges. The boys were alleged to have pounded on the door and left.

Omar, whose house is on South Park Avenue, said he lives in a Donald Trump-supporting neighborhood. In 2024, Trump took 50 percent of the vote to Kamala Harris' 43 percent in Omar's precinct. Trump took only two other DuPage County precincts in Hinsdale.
In an interview, Omar said his home's cameras have documented the incidents. He spoke of his frustration about the continued issues.

He told Patch in an email that his family has been under fire by the neighborhood since 2024 for essentially being Democrats.
In October 2024, he said his family received a note asking them to leave the country and labeling them Marxists and socialists for putting up a Harris sign.
"Things were generally quiet until Memorial Day and July 4, 2025, at which point I had enough of the current administration's position on Palestine, and I put up numerous Palestinian flags in the front yard to protest such," said Omar, who has Egyptian heritage.
After that, neighbors contacted the village several times to have their family remove the flags. He said his family replaced the signs with signs reading, "No kings, no fascists, no Nazis," with the "no kings" phrase reflecting a national anti-Trump campaign.
"What started as throwing trash into our property transformed into much more aggressive pranks," Omar said.
In a post on Nextdoor, Omar documented the disturbances. The youths kicked doors while wearing ski masks and drove into the backyard on motorbikes; pulled into the driveway to honk their car horn and planted political signs; and continued to throw trash onto the property, he said.
Last week's incident was the final straw as the boys' parents had been issued warnings, Omar said.
Identification, he said, was made easier because one of the boys lowered his hoodie so he could clearly "insult, berate and intimidate" Omar, allowing his face to be seen.
"I barely go to sleep ... (because) I always fear the same group of kids would come back at night, and I wanted to ensure they cannot disrupt my wife or my mother's sleep," Omar said in his Nextdoor post.
Omar said his family removed the signs and flags, but the problems continued.
"That's when we knew this will never stop, and the only way for it to stop was to try to have them arrested if they came back (which they did)," said Omar, a former Cook County prosecutor.
He said they are scheduled to move out in summer 2027 because of the harassment.
