Hinsdale District 86 Board of Education Member Resigns

The successor will be chosen by the remaining board members and will serve until April 2019.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale Township High School District 86 Board of Education member Robin Gonzales has submitted her resignation from the Board of Education to Board President Bill Carpenter and Board Secretary Kathleen Hirsman, effective Sept. 4.

The district said Gonzales was elected to the District 86 Board for the first time in April 2017 and served on the Facilities and Policy Committees. Her term was set to expire in April 2021.

In her statement, Gonzales said her family has decided to move outside of District 86.

"I was honored to be chosen to represent my wonderfully diverse global community. In this increasingly divisive world, it was heartening to see my neighborhood come together and work towards solving issues."

When a vacancy occurs, by law, the remaining board members are required to notify the Regional Superintendent of the vacancy within five days of the effective date of resignation. The successor
will be chosen by the remaining board members and in this instance that person will fill the vacancy
until the next regular school election in April 2019 determines who will serve the remaining two
years of her term.

"I remain proud of the work we as a board have completed, as well as plans set in motion to move the district forward in its continued tradition of excellence. I am confident that my fellow board members will continue the necessary work to ensure that Hinsdale 86 remains a destination community for outstanding schools," Gonzalez said in her statement.
