The most recent Hinsdale Township High School District 86 school board meeting was held on Dec. 18.

HINSDALE, IL —The most recent Hinsdale Township High School District 86 school board meeting was held on Dec. 18 and good news was shared from Hinsdale South, as well as several approvals made by the board. The next board meeting, a committee of the whole meeting, will be held Jan. 8. Here's what happened at the last school board meeting:

  • The district said Hinsdale South Principal Arwen Pokorny Lyp introduced Boys Cross Country Coach Jim Dickerson to congratulate Brett Haffner for earning 13th place at state.
  • According to board notes, the board voted to adopt the 2017 tax levy in the amount of $80,555,454.
  • The district said the board voted to approve the recommendation from the Final Exam Committee regarding second semester final exams for seniors. At a previous meeting, the Final Exam Committee presented its recommendation to the board that seniors would have the opportunity to decide whether to take second semester exams on a class-by-class basis. Schools will work on an approach to implement the proposal for the new school year.
  • According to the newsletter, the board approved the expansion of a third classroom for the Hinsdale Area Vision for Emotion Needs, or HAVEN, program for the 2018-19 school year.
  • The board accepted a donation from the Hinsdale Central Booster Club of $3,000 to pay for the setup of Neptune Game Time, a subscription service that plays only appropriate music at athletic events, and a recurring annual donation of $2,400 for the annual fee. The Athletic Department at Hinsdale Central is contributing $525 to the setup, the district said.
