Hinsdale Fire Department Raises $8K For Local Charities
The Hinsdale Fire Department raised $8,000 from the annual softball tournament on Sept. 22.

HINSDALE, IL — The Hinsdale Fire Department raised $8,000 in a single day during its annual charity softball event in honor of Deputy Fire Chief Mark Johnson. The event was held on Sept. 22 at Veeck Park in Hinsdale.
The department said with the $8,000 raised this year, it has brought the total to more than $100,000 donated over the past eight years to local charities. This year’s donation will go toward Hinsdale’s Safety Village, The Make A Wish Foundation, Illinois’ Burn Camp, The Special Olympics and the Illinois Survivors Conference.
According to the department, the first game of the tournament was a spirited match between the Hinsdale Fire Department and the Village Hall Staff, with the fire department coming out victorious. Other teams
included the Western Springs, La Grange Park, and Westmont fire departments as well as the Pleasantview and Lisle-Woodridge fire protection districts.

The Hinsdale Fire Department made it all the way to the Championship game but lost to Lisle-Woodridge.
The Hinsdale Professional Firefighters Association said it would like to thank all of the local businesses who donated raffle prizes for this event, and everyone who was involved in the event, especially the Johnson family.
