Hinsdale Garage Fire Appeared Accidental: Department

A downed power line was seen by the garage when firefighters arrived.

HINSDALE, IL – A fire broke out in a garage at 424 N. Adams St. in Hinsdale early Monday afternoon, authorities said.

When firefighters arrived about 1:30 p.m., they saw a downed power line behind the garage actively arcing, according to a fire department news release.

Firefighters forced entry into the garage and put out the fire, which was near the back interior corner, the release said. The homeowner was not present.

The fire department estimated the damage at less than $20,000. No one was reported injured. The fire department is determining the cause of the fire, but it appeared to be accidental in nature, according to the release.

Neighboring fire departments also responded to the fire.
