Hinsdale Historical Society Creates History Tour App

The app allows you to tour at your own pace, dive deep into local architecture and stories of Hinsdale's history.

HINSDALE, IL — The Hinsdale Historical Society, in partnership with the Village of Hinsdale’s Historic Preservation Commission, recently announced the launch of Hinsdale’s first tour app. The historical society said the app is like having a private tour guide at your fingertips with the freedom to tour at your own pace, dive deep into local architecture and stories of Hinsdale's history.

The app which is now free to download on both Apple and Android devices, includes professionally produced audio, archival photographs and GPS-enabled walking, running, biking and/or driving tours through historic Hinsdale.

The society said in a release the initial version of the app includes four tours that highlight the unique buildings designed or renovated by R. Harold Zook, a talented architect who lived and worked in Hinsdale from the 1920s through the 1940s. The app has 40 structures featured, and the four tours include homes both north and south of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railway, as well as commercial buildings found in the business district of Hinsdale.
