Hinsdale Hospital Seeing Many More Virus Patients

HINSDALE, IL — The hospitals in Hinsdale and La Grange are seeing many more coronavirus patients lately, the hospital chain reports.

As of Saturday, Hinsdale's Amita Health hospital was treating 23 patients with COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus, with nine patient awaiting test results.

Meanwhile, La Grange's Amita Health hospital was seeing 45 patients with COVID-19 and a dozen patients awaiting test results on the virus, the chain said.

"The numbers are significantly higher than they were 1-3 months ago and represents the highest numbers to date for AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center LaGrange since the onset of the pandemic," Olga Solares, Amita's associate vice president, said in an email Saturday.

As of Saturday, Elmhurst Hospital was treating 78 patients with the coronavirus. It is seeing more such patients than it was in the spring. As recently as Sept. 1, the hospital had just one coronavirus patient.
