Hinsdale House Damaged In Fire: Agency

The estimated damages are about $500,000, the fire department said.

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale firefighters put out a fire early Sunday morning, with the blaze considered accidental in nature, the fire department said Wednesday.

About 1:30 a.m., police were called to the house at 618 N. Washington St. because a burglary alarm sounded, according to a fire department news release.

Flames were coming out of a second-floor window of the house, with no one apparently inside, the release said.

Firefighters forced entry into the house and encountered "heavy heat and low visibility" in the second-floor hallway, according to the release.

The fire was found in the laundry room, and it was put out in minutes.

The fire department said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

No one was injured, with damages estimated at $500,000, the news release said.

The local department received help from the Clarendon Hills, Oak Brook, Pleasantview and Western Springs departments.
