Hinsdale Humane Society Opens New Facility
The new facility is located in the former Robert Crown building, and construction has been underway since March.
HINSDALE, IL — The Hinsdale Humane Society will host a grand opening weekend of celebrations to debut its new Pet Rescue & Resource Center, which will open the first weekend in November. The new facility is located at 21 Salt Creek Lane in Hinsdale, and is right off of I-294 and Ogden.
“We can’t imagine a more ideal way to celebrate our 65th year than by debuting our new Pet Rescue and Resource Center to the public,” Tom Van Winkle, Executive Director, said in a release. “This is going to be a place not only for healing, comfort and care for the animals, but also a place for the community to come together to bond with and learn all about animals in need.”
According to the society, the new facility features: the Jordan Crist Dog Den and Roger & Julie Davis Cat Lodge, which will allow for more space and more rescued animals; the Foley & Schlosser Training Center; Elinor & Jake Brickman Education Center; pet therapy programming; and the Irving & Phyllis Millstein Foundation for Animal Welfare Medical Suite.

“Beyond the fantastic, modern design of the building, is the progressive nature of what will go on inside,” said Van Winkle. “While we owe a tremendous debt to the trailblazing women who founded Hinsdale Humane Society in the 1950s, our future is about growth and becoming one of the premier animal shelters in the country.”
The new facility is located in the former Robert Crown building, and construction has been underway since March. The society said the Pet Rescue & Resource Center was designed to be a welcoming space for the public to engage with the pets, learn about animal welfare, pet therapy and consider adoption.
