Hinsdale Man Charged With Harassment: Cops

Police arrested the man after a burglar alarm went off at his home, according to a report.

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale police responded to a burglar alarm in the 10 block of Clay Street last week. An arrest was made — of the homeowner.

About 1:30 p.m. Oct. 13, two officers checked the inside of the house in response to the alarm, but found nothing amiss. Then they heard the front door open and a man yelled, "Is somebody here? I'm the homeowner," according to a police report obtained through a public records request.

The police asked the man for verification that he was the homeowner. He gave his driver's license, showing he was Paul H. Schwendener IV, 39, of Hinsdale, according to police.

When police checked Schwendener's information, they found he had an October 2020 warrant for his arrest from the DuPage County Sheriff's Office. He had been charged with telephone harassment, with his bond at $5,000.

The officers placed Schwendener under arrest and handcuffed him. They took him to the police station for booking. He was then picked up by a DuPage County jail transport van, police said.
