Hinsdale Murder: Police Ask For Patience

Police ask for patience as they continue to investigate the murder of Andrea Urban.

HINSDALE, IL — Police ask for patience as the investigation into the murder of a 51-year-old Hinsdale woman enters its third week. Andrea Urban, a long-time Hinsdale resident and mother of two children, was found murdered in her home on May 4. Preliminary autopsy findings were consistent with multiple blunt force trauma, police said.

Police said the investigation is proceeding on course, but it takes time.

According to a release, police are also seeking the assistance of homeowners with video surveillance equipment to help the ongoing investigation. Police said review your camera system to determine if there is any video footage available from May 4. Police said there are no suspects in custody.

Officers responded at 3:37 p.m. May 4 in the 700 block of Town Place for a report of an unresponsive 51-year-old-victim. Police said Urban was discovered by a family member. When officers entered the home, Urban was found deceased.

The county said the final cause and manner of death are pending further investigation.

Ample physical evidence from Urban's home has been submitted to the DuPage County Sheriff's Crime Lab for testing. According to a release, numerous electronic devices that belonged to Urban have also been sent to to the FBI computer forensics lab for analysis.

Police said investigators are still conducting interviews with Urban's friends and associates, and that those interviews are generating additional leads.

"Identifying the person or persons responsible for Ms. Urban's homicide is our number one priority," Simpson said in a release. "We continue to follow up on tips, pursue new leads and are eager to see the results of analysis of physical and computer evidence that we submitted to experts for their review."

Police said that they have no reason to suspect that Urban's murder was a random act, but they remind residents to take the same precautions they would every day to keep their homes and families safe.

Investigators from the Hinsdale Police Department are working with the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Felony Investigative Assistance Team Major Crimes Unit and the DuPage County Sheriff's Forensic Investigative Unit.

Urban was a cancer survivor, according to a WGN TV report, and an actress who appeared on episodes of "Chicago PD" and "Chicago Fire."

The Illinois State Crime Commission said they have offered a $5,000 reward for information that results in an arrest and conviction in connection with the investigation.

“Our investigators are exploring every angle of this case, but we know there is more information out there. That’s why we’re urging Hinsdale residents, and anyone else for that matter, to provide any information they deem potentially relevant to this case,” said Simpson in a release. “This case cannot be solved too soon. But it’s very important that we are being thorough, deliberate and thoughtful in everything we do on this case."
