HINSDALE, IL — Prosecutors last week showed jurors video of the man accused in a 2017 Hinsdale murder selling rings taken from the victim's home, according to a story in the Chicago Tribune.

Dominic Sanders, 32, of University Park is charged with the first-degree murder of 51-year-old Andrea Urban, who was killed in her house May 4, 2017. According to authorities, Sanders gained entry into Urban's home about 10 a.m. A physical altercation between Sanders and Urban ensued, resulting in Sanders repeatedly striking Urban in the head and slashing her throat, police say.

Sanders has admitted to stealing the rings from Urban's house, but has denied killing her, according to the Tribune.

The newspaper reported that then-Hinsdale detective Kevin Lackey got the rings from a pawnshop in Melrose Park, where the video was taken, about three weeks after the killing. He took them to the Hinsdale middle school where Urban's daughter, Daria, attended. The daughter identified them as belonging to her mother. Sanders was arrested shortly after.

The trial continues this week.
