Hinsdale Police and Fire Change 9-1-1 Dispatch Center

First responders are expected to benefit from a better communication infrastructure and advanced technology.

The Hinsdale police and fire departments transitioned April 28 to a new 9-1-1 dispatch service provider.

DuPage Public Safety Communications (DU-COMM) serves 41 police and fire agencies in Dupage County, and it is one of the largest consolidated 9-1-1 centers in Illinois.

Residents can use Smart911 to build an online safety profile for their home phone and cell phone that includes personal and medical information that would be available to emergency responders when 9-1-1 is called, according to the release.

Smart911 delivers the information to a dispatcher’s work station automatically, and it provides responders with critical information from subscribers.
