Hinsdale Police Announce Memorial Day Enforcement Results

Three drunk driving arrests were made during the Memorial Day campaign.

HINSDALE, IL – The Hinsdale Police Department made three drunk driving arrests during its recent Memorial Day enforcement effort. The department said officers also issued 18 citations for speeding, 15 citations for seatbelt violations, three citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, one citation for possession of cannabis and 14 citations for other violations to the Illinois Vehicle Code.

“These enforcement crackdowns are vital because too many people are not heeding the message– drunk driving is deadly and illegal,” Deputy Chief Thomas Lillie said in a release. “Alcohol not only dangerously impairs your driving skills, it impairs your judgment. Any time you see a friend drinking alcohol, make sure they don’t plan to drive home.”

The Hinsdale Police Department joined forces with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners throughout the state in the Memorial Day Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown. The statewide effort was funded by federal traffic safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
