Hinsdale Police Conduct Back To School Traffic Enforcement Initiative
Hinsdale Police Department will be conducting special traffic enforcement initiative in school zones at various locations throughout town.

HINSDALE, IL — As students return to school, the Hinsdale Police Department will be conducting special traffic enforcement initiative in school zones at various locations throughout Hinsdale. According to a release, the purpose of this selective enforcement will be to increase driver awareness of cellphone prohibitions in school zones, school zone speed limits, stop sign obedience, and other traffic and parking violations that inhibit the safety of pedestrians and other motorists.
With increased construction near schools, officers will place additional emphasis on construction site safety and truck traffic near the schools, according to the release. Hinsdale Police said with school back in session, drivers tend to forget the purpose of the school zone signs that they passed during the empty summer months.
According to the release, marked and unmarked patrol vehicles will be positioned within the areas to not only serve as a visible reminder, but to cite violators. Traffic violations such as passing stopped school buses, child safety seat violations and seat belt use, will also be addressed during this time.
