The department said the theme for this year’s open house is “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. Fire can happen anywhere TM,” which works to educate the public about basic but essential ways to quickly and safely escape a home fire.
Police officers and firefighters will host an array of activities that the whole family can learn from and enjoy. According to the department, activities include demonstrations on various firefighting equipment, the fire safety trailer and interactive programs for children. The fire department will also conduct a simulated live burn to demonstrate the advantages of a residential sprinkler system.
Police activities include a SWAT team demonstration, child fingerprinting, crime prevention programming, community notification tools, and specialized assignments and equipment within the Police Department. The department said police department tours will also be conducted.
