Hinsdale Police Reports: Car Burglary, DUI, Theft
Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through Aug. 25

A patient at Hinsdale Manor Care reported a change purse containing $42 went missing, and a second patient reported $50 cash was missing from her room, both between Aug. 5 and 19, according to Hinsdale police. Restitution was made to both patients.
Christopher Lasek, age 19 of the 400 block of North Washington was arrested Aug. 22 after he was stopped at Garfield Avenue and 55th Street for multiple traffic offenses, according to Hinsdale police. He was charged with drunken driving, DUI over 0.08, possession of cannabis less than 30 grams, possession of drug equipment, speeding, four charges of disobeying a stop sign, failure to signal and three charges of improper lane use.

John O Burns, age 22 of the 200 block of Beverly Road, Barrington, was arrested Aug. 22 for drunken driving after police were called to 4th Street and Garfield Avenue for a report of a suspicious person knocking at a residence, according to Hinsdale police. Burns was found in his car, asking for a jump start. He was charged with drunken driving, DUI over 0.08 and illegal transportation of alcohol.
Someone reportedly stole a shopping basket filled with items from Whole Foods on East Ogden Avenue on Aug. 22, according to Hinsdale police. Employees reported alcohol and other items were in the basket. The suspect is described as a man wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, and he left in a gray Toyota.

Someone reportedly stole lawn chairs, coolers and other items from Bonnie Brae and The Pines after a block party Aug. 23, according to Hinsdale police.
Someone reportedly stole a spotlight and loose change between Aug. 22 and 23 from a car in the 5500 block of South Oak Street, according to Hinsdale police. There were no signs of forced entry, and the car was parked in the owner’s driveway.
Someone reportedly stole a purse containing a check book and $10 from a car between Aug. 22 and 23 in the 800 block of South Elm Street, according to Hinsdale police. The owner found her empty purse in the bushes. There were no signs of forced entry, and the car was parked on the street.
Someone used a victim’s identity Aug. 19 to cash two fraudulent checks totaling $2,300, according to Hinsdale police.
