Hinsdale Police Reports: Home Burglary, Theft, DUI

Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through Aug. 4.

Residents of a home in the 400 block of South Vine Street reported their house was burglarized, according to Hinsdale police. They returned home July 28 to find their back door was open and jewelry was missing from a bedroom closet. About $60-worth of change, spare keys and remote controls for cars were also reported missing.

A package was reported stolen from the 700 block of Justina Street on July 29, according to Hinsdale police. The package was valued at $53.

Douglas Andrew Baer, age 32 of the 8500 block of Tullamore Drive, Tinley Park, was arrested Aug. 2 and charged with drunken driving, according to Hinsdale police. He was stopped for driving on a flat tire, and he submitted to testing that showed he was over the limit.

Alost cell phone was reported missing Aug. 1, and someone was seen picking up the phone when it was left on a bench at the Main Train Depot, according to Hinsdale police. The suspect left on a bike.

Jane C McDaniel, age 54 of Ardmore, Villa Park, was arrested Aug. 1 and charged with drunken driving, according to Hinsdale police. A witness reported a possible drunken driver to police, and officers stopped McDaniel at Ogden Avenue and Warwick. She refused testing to determine her blood-alcohol level. She was charged with DUI, driving without headlamps, improper lane use, and disobeying a traffic signal and was released to appear in court.

Someone issued a check for rent payment May 30 that was returned and marked non-sufficient funds, according to Hinsdale police.

A known suspect made numerous calls of a harassing nature Aug. 3, according to Hinsdale police.

Someone received a call Aug. 3 from a person who found her cell phone. The caller offered to sell the victim her phone back for $50.

Someone used a victim’s identity to make unauthorized charges between July 5 and 24, according to Hinsdale police. The victim received correspondences informing them of pre-approval for loans.
