Hinsdale Police Reports: Jewelry Theft, Hit and Run, DUI

Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through July 28.

Three pieces of jewelry were reported stolen between July 9 and 10 from an apartment in the 300 block of East Claymoor Road, according to Hinsdale police. The jewelry was valued at $3,700. The owner of the jewelry had workers in the home during the time the jewelry went missing.

A Manor Care resident reported a ring valued at $400 missing July 21 from her room at 600 West Ogden Avenue, according to Hinsdale police.

Someone driving a red Chevrolet Cobalt with Indiana registration hit a car July 24 while backing out of a parking space at BP Amoco at York Road and Ogden Avenue.

Emmanuel Favela, age 28 of the 1200 block of South 58th Avenue, Cicero, was charged July 25 with drunken driving, improper parking on a roadway and operating an uninsured vehicle, according to Hinsdale police. Police were sent to the 100 block of East Third Street a car parked on the parkway with the driver slumped over. Favela refused BAC testing, and he was charged and released to appear in court.

A 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe valued at $2,000 was reported stolen July 24 from the 300 block of North Washington, according to Hinsdale police. The owner parked the car on the street and left the keys inside. There were tools inside for his concrete/paving business..

Someone used a victim’s bank information Feb 16 to cash two counterfeit checks totaling $5,248, according to Hinsdale police. The identity theft was reported July 25.

Someone poured an unknown substance on a parked car between July 26 and 27 in the 10 block of Spinning Wheel Road, according to Hinsdale police. The cost to repair the paint damage is estimated at $1,000.
