Hinsdale Police Reports: Theft of Services, Burglary, DUI

Hinsdale Police Department reported crimes through June 16.

Someone reported jewelry was taken between Jan. 9 and May 3 from the bedroom closet of a home in the 400 block of East Hickory Street, according to Hinsdale police. The victim said there were people at her house for parties during the timeframe the jewelry went missing. The loss was more than $500, police reported.

A woman set her wallet down June 10 in the restroom of the Starbucks on South Washington and realized she left it there 10 minutes later, according to Hinsdale police. When she returned, it was missing. The wallet was valued at $75 and contained about $100 and credit cards, police reported.

A woman reported someone approached her June 10 at Third Street and Grant Street while she was running and reached his hand out as if he was going to grab her, according to Hinsdale police. The man is described as in his mid-20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds with dark hair wearing a gray shirt and khakis.

Someone received a phone call June 10 from someone claiming to be from the IRS, according to Hinsdale police. The victim received additional phone calls that displayed “911” on her caller ID. The suspect threatened the victim’s daughter would be arrested and a warrant served for her if she didn’t pay $4,850. The victim learned it was a scam before she transferred funds, police reported.

A man reported two key rings were missing June 13 from just inside the entrance to his house in the 400 block of The Lane, according to Hinsdale police. The man was in the backyard at the time of the theft and the front door was unlocked.

Four Brookfield 18 year olds were arrested June 12 in the 700 block of East 55th Street after they were stopped for speeding and seen to be under the influence of alcohol, according to Hinsdale police. The submitted to testing that showed they had been drinking. They were each charged with illegal consumption of alcohol by a person under 21 and released to appear in court.

Four people took a cab from Chicago to Hinsdale at 57th Street and Grant Street and paid $70 of the $97 fare, a cab driver reported to Hinsdale police. The suspects are described as white men, age 25-30, about 5 feet 9 inches tall, wearing red Blackhawks shirts, according to Hinsdale police.

Someone stole $103 on June 14 from a wallet that was left in an unlocked locker at the Hinsdale Community Swimming Pool, according to Hinsdale police.

Rapheal D Hayden, age 25 of the 300 block of Mohawk Street, Park Forest, was found asleep behind the wheel at a green light at 1:08 a.m. June 14 at Ogden Avenue and Salt Creek Lane, according to Hinsdale police. He submitted to testing that showed he was over the legal limit, and there was an open alcohol container in the car. Hayden was charged with drunken driving, DUI over 0.08, illegal transportation of alcohol and parking motor running, police reported.

A patient at Manor Care reported $25 and a credit card were missing between June 8 and 9 from her wallet, according to Hinsdale police. The wallet was kept in an unlocked closet in her room. There was no unauthorized activity reported on her credit card at the time of the report.
