Hinsdale Resident Target Of FTC Scam: Cops

HINSDALE, IL – Hinsdale police released their latest blotter Wednesday. Here is information from the reports:

FTC scam

• A person claiming to be an agent with the Federal Trade Commission on April 15 messaged a resident in the apartment building at 21 Spinning Wheel Road. The person alleged the resident was a victim of fraud. The resident recognized the scam before sending any money.

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run crash occurred between 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and 12:45 a.m. Wednesday at Washington and Second streets. A suspect hit the victim's car while it was in a parking space. The case is pending.

Fraud

• Someone forged a woman's signature and fraudulently charged her account Oct. 1 at Verizon Wireless, 34 E. First St. The crime was reported Friday.
• A resident in the 700 block of South Grant Street told police Thursday that someone opened a cellphone account in the resident's name and bought two phones.
