Hinsdale Residential Burglaries: Marion Man Has Bond Set
A Marion man is accused of two residential burglaries in Hinsdale, one on May 15 and one on April 4.

HINSDALE, IL — A Marion man accused of burglarizing two Hinsdale homes has had his bond set at $250,000, according to the DuPage County State’s Attorney's Office. Jeffrey Levin, 59, appeared at bond court hearing Wednesday where bond was set at $125,000 with 10 percent to apply on each count of burglary. Levin is charged with two counts of residential burglary, a Class 1 felony and one count of misdemeanor resisting arrest.
According to the Attorney's Office, at 11:50 a.m. May 15, the victim in one of the alleged burglaries returned to their home on Oak Street in Hinsdale. When the victim entered his house, he encountered Levin in his hand walking down the stairs with a bag in his hand. Levin then ran past the victim and fled the house.
The victim called 911, and officers from the Hinsdale Police Department responded. The Attorney's Office said officers were able to take Levin into custody after a brief chase which ended with officers tasing Levin.

Through police investigation, Hinsdale Police Department also gathered information to charge Levin in another residential burglary on Bodin Street in Hinsdale on April 4, the Attorney's Office said.
“The allegations that on two separate occasions Mr. Levin broke into two Hinsdale homes and stole valuables worth thousands of dollars are unacceptable and will be met with the full force of the law” State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a release. “In addition to allegedly stealing valuables from his victims, Mr. Levin’s actions also robbed his victims of the feeling of safety and security that a home provides."

“I would like to commend the officers who responded to the 911 call on Oak Street for their outstanding efforts in apprehending the suspect in this case,” Hinsdale Chief Brian King said in a release. “It is because of their quick response that Mr. Levin finds himself facing these charges today."
Levin’s next court appearance is scheduled for June 13, for arraignment in front of Judge Miller. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Hinsdale Police Department at 630-789-7070.
