Hinsdale Sees Drop In New Virus Cases: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — Hinsdale saw fewer coronavirus cases in the last week, while Clarendon Hills experienced slightly more, according to county agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,901 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up 12 in the last week. The week before last, the village experienced 15 new cases.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 1,012 coronavirus cases, up seven in the last week. The week before last, it recorded five new cases.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 61 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 108 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 95 in Darien, 104 in La Grange Park, 108 in DuPage County, 110 in Elmhurst, 116 in Clarendon Hills, 118 in Western Springs and suburban Cook County, 119 in Burr Ridge and 137 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,695,524, a 0.9 percent increase from the previous week, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 25,771.

Nationally, 45.9 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, a 1.2 percent increase from the previous week, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 743,410 people have died from the virus in the United States.
