Hinsdale Sees Fewer New Virus Cases: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — In the last week, both Hinsdale and Clarendon Hills saw drops in new coronavirus cases, according to county agencies.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,734 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, up by 18 in the last week. The week before last, the village experienced 29 new cases.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills reached 941 coronavirus cases, up by 10 in the last week. The week before last, it recorded 14 new cases.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 61 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 98.3 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 87.3 in Darien, 93.7 in La Grange Park, 97.5 in DuPage County, 100.9 in Elmhurst, 106.8 in Western Springs, 107.5 in Clarendon Hills, 107.8 in suburban Cook County, 111.7 in Burr Ridge and 126.7 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,508,005, up 1.8 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,889.

Nationally, 38.7 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 3 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 634,157 people have died from the virus in the United States.
