Hinsdale Sees Largest Virus Hike Since May: Agencies

HINSDALE, IL — In the last week, Hinsdale saw 11 new coronavirus cases, according to county agencies. That's the largest weekly increase since early May.

Meanwhile, Clarendon Hills experienced eight new cases of the coronavirus, according to county agencies. The week before last, the village experienced 15 cases.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 1,672 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, while Clarendon Hills had 906.

Hinsdale saw no new coronavirus deaths in the last week, with the total at 61 since the pandemic's beginning, according to county agencies. Clarendon Hills' number of deaths stayed the same in the last week, at 13.

As of Sunday, Hinsdale had 94.8 coronavirus cases per thousand people since the pandemic's beginning. The figure compares to 83.7 in Darien, 90.2 in La Grange Park, 93.9 in DuPage County, 96.3 in Elmhurst, 101.7 in Western Springs, 103.5 in Clarendon Hills, 104.3 in suburban Cook County, 107.1 in Burr Ridge and 123.8 in La Grange (including unincorporated La Grange Highlands).

As of Sunday, Illinois' coronavirus case count increased to 1,436,353, up 1.2 percent from a week earlier, according to the state Department of Public Health. The number of confirmed deaths so far is 23,503.

Nationally, 35.7 million cases of the coronavirus have been reported, up 2.1 percent from the week before, according to the Centers for Disease Control. A total of 614,291 people have died from the virus in the United States.
